We seem to have overcome Soviet fascism,
though the heirs of Nazi-fascism live; but the biggest threat to freedom lies
in Islamic fascism.
Freedom is not self-evident.
We are at war – and we have to defend ourselves. For the sake of
our children.

Der Weg ins Leben
Was machst Du fragt mich mein Nachbar. Nach den Wochen der Reise und dem Sitzen hinter dem Steuer, genieße ich meinen See, das Wetter, die Kinder und das Boot. Und ich lese. Was? Mal wieder Makarenko. Nie gehört? Anton Semjonowitsch Makarenko (1888 - 1939) war ein sowjetischer Pädagoge der in
einem wundervollen Buch "Der Weg ins Leben" den Aufbau eines kollektiven Erziehungssystems in der Sowjetunion beschreibt. Nicht das ich seine Ansicht teilen würde, oder auch nur das Geringste übrig hätte für eine Kollektiverziehung, aber seine Ehrlichkeit und Gradlienigkeit gegenüber Kindern und Jugendlich ist einfach überzeugend. Dieses
Buch ist ein grandioses Beispiel wie man einer Idee, der man im Grunde ablehnend gegenüber steht, dennoch viel positives entnehmen und als Richtschnur eigenen erzieherischen Handelns vorbildhaft einsetzen kann. Insbesondere die Beschreibung der Theateraktivitäten der ihm anvertrauten Jugendlichen hat es mir angetan. Wenn ich dann sehe, das Theater,
besonders hier in Nordamerika, in der Schule eine so nachrangige Rolle spielt, ja die Kinder nicht einmal mehr Gedichte auswendig lernen, bin ich ganz betrübt. Das spielerische Ausgestalten einer Rolle in einer Theater AG an unserer Schule in Berlin, gehört mit zu meinen besten Erinnerungen. Theaterspielen ist, aus meiner Sicht, eine
hervorragende Methode Selbstsicherheit zu lernen und in fremde Charaktere und Personen einzutauchen. Wenig formt junge Menschen mehr als Rollenlernen und Theaterspielen. Makarenko bei
